Bamboo Fly

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) and sequences of the Anji bamboo forest, Jiangsu, China.?
House of Flying Daggers (2005) also contains some magnificent footage of tea in mountain landscape Bamboo Sea Park, Yongchuan, Chongqing, China. 1) Have any of you ever has traveled to one of these places in China or any other bamboo forest or plantation? 2) Is this a trip difficult for Westerners to take? Never I've been to China, but after seeing these two films, I am tempted to start thinking about that possibility … especially if visiting these bamboo "gardens" is a possibility. Thanks in advance for any help.
I can not say I've gone to any of these places, but I made a lot of travel throughout China, including several towns and villages that have participated in major films, but they are not really tourist paths for foreigners (although often they are popular for tourists Chinese). I've been to lots of places of interest in the bamboo forests / woods, but still nothing that really stands out in my mind as a spectacular forest bamboo. Anji photos look spectacular, though. China tourist spots are easy to get to if you can speak some Chinese. While Anji can not serve both Western tourists, is sure to be well established for receiving Chinese tourists. You do not need a lot of Chinese-greetings, prices and simple directions. A short course in their country of origin may be all you need (eg, 1 lesson per week for 10 weeks) – but will make a big difference in giving you the ability to get away from the standard tourist route that most Westerners are, and visit some sites that really interest you. If you are willing to spend extra money – if the cost is not important – then anything is possible in China. Top management Western hotels throughout the country can arrange these things to you in English without you needing to know a word of Chinese. However, only rudimentary Chinese goes a long way to make your experience more enjoyable and more of your trip. Check this: http://community.travelchinaguide.com/d_forum2.asp?i=6751 http://annatam.com/anji-the-bamboo-forest/ http://annatam.com/anji-bamboo-forest- Part 2 / Hangzhou is quite close to Shanghai and a beautiful city, with lakes and fields of tea. Just take off from Shanghai and very popular among Chinese and Western tourists. Given that Anji forest is only an hour's drive from Hangzhou, you (or your hotel) can arrange a taxi or a car to get there (and possibly overnight) for less than a few hundred U.S. dollars (and possibly much cheaper). So to answer your question: while Anji is not in the standard tourist route for Westerners, it should be simple and easy if you are flexible, a little adventure and the patient. Just keep in mind that, while much of China is very surprising and impressive, nothing is exactly the way you imagined a movie. Hey, I'm very tempted to go to the bamboo forests of Anji now. If I go (probably over a weekend), I'll let you know how it went.
